Accra Beach
Accra is one of Barbados’ most popular beaches, wide and long with good shade and a lot of activity.
At one end shallow pools are suitable for children, while the open sea beckons more adventurous souls!
Starting at Accra
If you are an early morning walker, walking from Accra will have the sun at your back and is best for taking pictures on the first leg but not on the return.
Accra Beach Hotel
The boardwalk begins steps from Accra Beach Hotel. This popular resort has a meandering swimming pool, swim up bar, several restaurants, spa, and excellent conference facilities.
Swimming and Snorkeling
There is usually some wave action at Accra which makes it popular for body surfing. Swimming at Accra is also excellent.
The coral reef, about 100 yards offshore, is habitat for many varieties of tropical fish. Bring along your snorkel and goggles!
Mini Headlands
The boardwalk is dotted with mini headlands offering panoramic ocean views.
Sit a while and soak up the cooling ocean breezes as the waves splash at your feet.
A Shaded Stroll
This section of the boardwalk is shaded by lovely almond and casuarina trees, providing a welcome respite from the tropical sun.
Wide Beach
A wide beach opens up on our left, offering a chance to splash in the water or enjoy beachcombing with shells and seafans as our reward.
Delightful Dining
We stroll pass Naru Restaurant, an elegant spot serving up fusion Caribbean Asian dishes. Tables line the boardwalk giving stunning ocean views, while tiki torches add to the ambiance.
Out To Sea
You might see local fishing boats going out to sea in the morning and returning in the late afternoon. Boats are not allowed to fish in the inside reef. Stand up paddle boarders can often be spotted making their way skillfully along the coast, occassionally joined by kayakers.
Fried Chicken Beckons!
The familiar smell of Kentucky Fried Chicken, and sight of the red umbrellas, lets us know what’s up ahead! The umbrellas provide welcome shade as you enjoy your fast food treat.
Headland Respite
Let’s stop at the prominent headland for panoramic views and fresh ocean breezes.
Here you’ll see children at play, seniors relaxing, joggers taking a rest, teenagers giggling, and many more just enjoying this invigorating space.
